Its been a month now that I have been with Kenrick and Tina, I really think they love me. (thats what they keep telling me)  I have a new brother Max, he is older than me but he finds some energy to play tug of war with me.  Mom and dad let me stay out of my crate now when they are at work or go out, when the get home they take us for walks or we play out in the yard.I really feel like I am part of the family already. I even get to sleep in their bed with them (with my own blanket).  Beaker is great, we both are very happy with our new addition. He fits right in.  Yeah we leave him out of his crate now and he is doing really good with it ( we hide the waste baskets) he has made himself very much at home. He gets along great with our other dog max. Here are a few pictures. Thank you suncoast for giving us Beaker.

Jasmine aka Jaz

When I was 6 mths old (5 yrs ago) I was adopted by a wonderful husband and wife. They let me sleep with them when I have had my bath, lay on the couch and cuddle when its cold out and most of all give me all the hands on attention I always ask for. I am their only baby girl and yes I am spoiled rotten! My favorite thing to do is fetch my golf or tennis ball, find squirrels or lizards go on long walks and of course sleep throughout the day on my favorite bed! I also love when my mom and dad invite their friends over because I get so much attention and they love petting me all over. Mom also likes to dress me up whenever there is a holiday like 4th of July, Halloween, Christmas, and all the other holidays in between. Mom and dad have taught me how to sit, speak, lay down and shake oh and to be a good watch dog. Mom always tells me what a good girl I am and that I am her Jazzy poo since I am so well behaved and never have a bad attitude.

 Hi Suncoast.

We adopted (Lucke) Luckie on in July of 2009.  He is such a wonderful dog!!!  He loves to walk and play with his squeeky toys.  Our 3 kids adore him and he takes turns sleeping on each of their beds.  Luckie was very skinny when we got him but he has gained weight and the vet says he is thriving.  Thank you so much for bringing Luckie into our hearts and home.  We lost our 5 year old Basset, Duke, to cancer a month before we found Luckie.  We didn't change his name because he already knew it and it fits him.  Luckie is so gentle and LOVES to give kisses to the family.

Thanks again!

 Dear Suncoast Basset Rescue,
I saw Frankies picture online and fell in love with his beautiful face.  I knew he was the one I loved.  Then when I went to to Frankies foster mom's, Shannon, and it really seemed that Frankie picked me!   Its only been a few days, but believe me, he and I have bonded very much so.  Frank knows this is his castle and he is MY little man!
How does someone say thank you for making it easier for someone to find love and companionship?  I have been happier now than I have been for several months.  Frankie has adjusted very quickly to sleeping late (on the bed), and walking several times a day (and meeting all the neighbors).  Thank You everyone at Suncoast Basset Rescue! Thank you for giving Frankie and myself a smile and love everyday!
 With heartfelt thanks,
Mary Lovett

Hi Suncoast,                                                                                                                                                                    It has been a year and half since we adopted Lady and she has settled right in our home, so much that she thinks she rules the roost. We could not have been happier having Lady around, she is the first to greet me when I come home and the last to say goodbye when I leave. She enjoys lazing about in the sun, belly rubs, and her nightly walk around our sub-division. She has an adopted brother Rex – a Beagle but you would think they are litter mates the way they torment each other. Both are very affectionate family dogs and are not afraid to show their love to you. Who ever said you can’t buy happiness forgot about dogs, especially Basset Hounds and Beagles. Thank you Suncoast, Robert & Toni Mescia

Hey guys,
We just wanted to give you an update on Mikey.  We adopted Mikey a couple of months ago and he fits with us like a glove.  He and our other dog Tabby get along great.  We just wanted to send in a couple of pics and let you know he is loving his new home.  Thanks for everything suncoast.
Mark and Lisa Smith

 Dear Suncoast,
My name is Fred, and I was adopted two months ago. My new parents give me bones
and belly rubs galore. I just love to snuggle up with them on the couch. I have
made many new neighbor doggie friends, even a new crush (she's a husky!). My
owners can't resist my pouty face, so most nights I even sleep on their bed.
I was even voted "Dog of the Month" at our apartment complex. All in all,
I am very grateful for the help of suncoast, and my new parents are as well! Thank
you to Kitty and Peggy for all your help and love.
Love, Fred the Basset, Melinda, and Garrett

Delilah joined us about 6 months ago and is really enjoying her new life.  This is the second and certainly not the last Basset we have adopted from Suncoast.  Peaches went to the rainbow bridge over a year ago and we knew it was time for another when we met Delilah.  She still has a lot of puppy in her as she is able to keep up with her Uncle Ralph who is a Jack Russell Terrier.  She gets her walk twice a day and if Dad somehow forgets she sure lets him know.  Thanks for bringing Delilah in our lives!   Ryan and Amy Ayres

Hi Suncoast!!!

It's been about 2 weeks since my new parents got me, so now that i have them trained like i want, i figured i'd keep them.  i'm SO happy to have my new family!  my new mom and dad rescued a basset from Suncoast in 1999, but he crossed the rainbow bridge in 2006....  they were heartbroken, and after 2 years of being "basset-less", finally decided last month to adopt again and were lucky enough to find me!  my suncoast name was duke, but mom and dad wanted to call me Bones, because my new brother is named Chewie and i just love it... Chewie and Bones..... sounds pretty good :)  well, i just wanted to show you a pic of me and my new brother and thank you for helping me find my new mom and dad. i'd like to thank my foster mom ,Hope, for taking great care of me and especially Kathy Peacock for helping coordinate my delivery from Tampa to my new home at the beach in St Augustine!  i'm so glad for all of you and i know my parents couldn't be happier to have me!  i'll see you at our 1st waddle on valentines day!!!!
Love,
Bones

Hi everyone, you used to know me as Sammie but thanks to Suncoast Basset Rescue, especially Kitty Workman, Kathy Peacock and my foster mom Shannon, I have my own home! My mom named me Gabriel because she says I'm such an angel. I love it here and I even have a big brother who plays with me and takes naps with me and reminds me to go to the bathroom outside. My mom tells me all the time she's grateful I came to live with them and I'm grateful to all the people who helped me find my way here - thanks everyone!!!   Love, Gabe

 Hi Suncoast,

We just wanted to give you a long overdue update on our little girl, Boo Boo.
We adopted her in November of 2006.  We all bonded immediately! Boo Boo is a very happy, healthy and vocal 8 year old who loves going on her morning walks. She's a hit in our neighborhood. When she's not out sunbathing, you can be sure to find her taking a nap in her doggie bed, all bundled up under her blanket. She has brought so much joy into our lives.  We can't imagine living without her.
Thank you Suncoast.

Hi, I wanted to write and tell you how happy we are to have Joey aka "Fat Dog". We adopted him a few months ago after losing Sammy our first basset hound, and we just love him. He is such a huge baby! The kids just love him and he gets lots of attention everywhere we go which he loves because he just loves people. He loves to spend his day laying in the sun relaxing and in our laps when we get home in the afternoon. Bassets really are the best dogs although ours doesn't know he is one. Thanks Suncoast for helping us adopt another wonderful Basset Hound.

 Hello Suncoast,

I wanted to update you on Beau.  Beau has been with our family for almost four years now and he is great.  He has become part of our family and he is well loved and cared for.  To give some background, when we got Beau he did not like to be left alone in the house.  When he was left alone he counter surfed like a big dog and loved to eat every loaf of bread or tear up the trash.  He also barked so hard and long that he bit through his joules.  Not being a Basset hound owner before we were unsure how to deal with this.  Well with a lot of reading and time Beau learned that if we left the house we would come back.  We learned to clear the counters and make sure the trash was out of his reach.  He is very well trained now not even going in the kitchen, all we have to say to him now is Beau out! and he will go lay in the living room.  He pouts so bad but he is funny.  I have been stationed in Okinawa Japan for over a year now and the wife tells me Beau looks for me from time to time.  I miss him very much and I look forward to getting home.  I made it home on leave in August and when he seen me he jumped and cried, he even knocked me down.  Well another year is upon us and we all look forward to another year with Beau in our lives.  Thank You for all you do, it is such a wonderful thing you do.  You have taken a wonderful breed of dog and given so many people joy.  I wish you all the best of luck in the new year.

Thank You and Merry Christmas to all the wonderful people of Suncoast Basset Rescue for helping me find my forever home in 2007. My wish to Santa is that more needy Bassets will find their forever homes in 2008.
                                             Merry Christmas!  Ho Ho Howl!
                                                                      Love,  Olivia

Hello Suncoast Basset Rescue,

I adopted Jefferson in January 2004 and quickly adopted Mildred in February 2004.  I became a foster home in August 2004.  Busy year!  I got my first fosters in the form of a bonded pair George and Splash who ended up making me fail fostering right off the bat.  I did however, decide to try again.  Success! I have now fostered and adopted in 2 years 14 dogs.  In 2006 & 2007 George and Splash both passed on and I just couldn't live with only 2 in the house so we adopted Flower our half basset half terrier mix and got her a playmate to grow old with Huckleberry.  I have enjoyed fostering all of the hounds and I hope they knew while they were here they were loved.

Sincerely,
Melissa Barnes

Dear Suncoast,

We would like to say thank you for letting us adopt such a wonderful dog.  Barkley has been with us for a year and as you can see from the picture has had no problem adjusting to his new home!  He is a wonderful dog and has a lot of personality.  He has filled the shoes and then some, of our beloved basset Pebbles who passed away in October 2006.  We knew when we first saw him that he was going to be special.

Just a quick update to let you know what a tremendous success story you have in the adoption of Buford. He is Happy, Healthy, Active, Playful, and above all, LOVED more than you could ever imagine. Thanks again for bringing him into our lives. (Buford says thank you as well)

I adopted "Dodger" in November 2005. He was a refugee from Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. It took a little travelling on his part to find me way down in Homestead. He never quite answered to Dodger, so I changed his name to Shiloh. I don't know if it was the name change, the treats, sleeping in bed, or that he finally realized that he was staying at this place for awhile, but he does know his new name, and usually comes a running - unless he has something more important to do. Shiloh was heartworm positive when I adopted him. I am so happy to say that as of October 2007, he is heartworm negative.

I've attached picture of Shiloh (on the right) with my other bassett Ceili (on the left). Thanks so much to all the volunteers at Suncoast Bassett Rescue and for advice on treatment for heartworms.            Nancy O'Hare

Hi There,
We just wanted to send a little update on our special girl, Molly.  We adopted her in 2004, and she has just been thriving ever since!  I took this photo of her one evening about a year and half after we adopted her, and to this day it's still one of my all-time favorites, because it looks almost as if she had posed for me.  But, she's not only a beautiful girl, she's also the sweetest dog we've ever known!  She has not only made a wonderful companion for us but also four our two male bassets, Baxter & Klaus, as well.
Sincerely,
Jennifer & Jason Maceyunas

We adopted Molly Jewel, AKA Jewel, in July of 2002. She was only 10 months old, five years later she has won the hearts of everyone that she meets. She is doing wonderfully. She is the neighborhood dog, all the kids on our street love her and she just laps up the attention. She is very energetic and has not stopped since we brought her home. Our daughter loves her very much and she is very gentle with our friends two year old. We could not have asked for a better dog. Thank you suncoast for letting us adopt Molly.

I adopted Marshal (the black one) a year ago.  He and Roscoe are best friends.  I am so happy to have him and to have helped him have a better life.  Thank you Suncoast.
Sincerely,
Chris Gentry

This is Tracker. We were only suppose to foster him until he was healthy enough for adoption. But instead....we fell in love and are in the process of adopting him. Tracker is one of the sweetest houndies in the world....and he makes our family complete now(which includes 3 other bassets adopted from Suncoast). Thank you Suncoast for our wonderful Bassets.

Gomer
Gomer is so nice and funny. Everyone, I mean Everyone loves him. The mailman and the UPS guy are crazy for him and he greets them with love all the time.
A young girl stopped by to take a picture of him the other day and she doesn't even know him, he's so cute and photogenic. When we adopted him from SCBR we had an old guy[basset from the pound] named Woody who was recovering from cancer surgury and thanks to Gomer, Woody had a nice last year or so till he succumbed to cancer this past fall. I love Gomer and Gomer is LOVE.

Hanna
my name is Cheryl Wright. I wanted to write and update you on Hannah. Hannah is doing VERY well. When my husband and I adopted her she was still going through the last phase of treatment for heartworms. She is doing wonderful, very happy, and healthy. We go over to the dog park several times a week for a few hours of play. EVERYONE has fallen in love with her, and have asked where she came from...I of course always mention your organization. I cannot begin to tell you what Hannah has done for me...always there and so full of love and attention. I wanted to say thank you for bringing her into my life, she is nothing but pure joy...even when shes being devilish, I cannot help but laugh. I hopefully will be buying a new home within a year and I am hoping you will again allow me to adopt. I have looked at all the available Bassetts and If I could I would adopt them all....how could you not?? ;o)
Below are a few pictures of Hannah in her usual form...total love bug. I hope you enjoy them and know she is loved so much.

Wilbur found his forever home with the Hatchell Family!

Zoey
Hi everyone,

Here's a long overdue update on Zoey.  We adopted Zoey in Feb. 2006. She has become the love of my life. (Dade loves her too, but he's a bit more reserved) She makes me laugh every single day, and I don't know what I would do without her. She loves her brothers, Bear and Ollie (a rottie who was adopted as a stray, and a terrier who was adopted from "Adopt a Pet" here in Miami) although they still don't know quite what to think of her. Tails wag, but Ollie runs when Zoey starts jumping around. It's quite a sight! Zoey definitely has me trained. Even though she has a "doggie door" to come and go as she pleases, mom still opens the sliding door for her when she barks. Geeez, it's so pathetic. Dad and Zoey watch t.v, and when she gets tired, she falls asleep and snores.  She definitely has the life, and we love her to pieces.  Thanks SBR for giving us the opportunity to know how special these bassets are.

Maria Flynn & Tim Green

Ariel
I adopted Ariel in May of 2003. She is such a wonderful dog! She now has a little brother - a long-haired Chihuahua named Jose, whom she has taught how to be part Basset! She travels twice a year to Kentucky to visit family and play with her hound cousins. She discovered that she LOVES the snow! We continue to thank God for Suncoast and bringing us together!

Peaches

We adopted Peaches about one year ago and she loves her new home. She loves taking walks to the lake to feed the fish(because she eats most of the bread. She also loves her pig ears and riding in the car,but most of all she loves sleeping ALL THE TIME!

Sam
Here is Sam the manly man. He is a wonderful dog and he loves to go in the car driving!!!he cries if he can't get a ride. Sam the man loves blondes!! He can spot them a mile away!

Xena
We wanted to let you know that Xena is doing well. She's been with us almost a year and a half and we just can't think of our lives without her. Here's a picture of her standing on our patio table....sharing a sandwich with her mom. She really left me a bite or two. Thank you Suncoast for allowing us to adopt her.
