Meet Marimba, a sweet and gentle Basset Hound who is ready to start a new chapter in her life. This beautiful girl has an abundance of freckles and a heart full of love to give. Marimba has had a rough past, spending her life as a breeding dog for a backyard breeder, with little socialization and limited veterinary care. Despite everything she's been through, she’s incredibly affectionate and eager to be loved.

At 5 years old and weighing about 50 lbs., Marimba recently had her first ever vet visit for a wellness exam, where she was also scheduled for spaying. We're hopeful for good news following her exam and excited for the bright future ahead of her. Marimba deserves a home where she can experience all the love and care she’s been missing

Meet Rosco, a handsome Bassador (a mix of Basset Hound and Labrador)! At just 1.5 years old, Rosco is a sweet, laid-back boy who is looking for his forever home. He’s currently settling into his foster home and will soon heading to the vet for a wellness check and to get scheduled to be neutered. Rosco’s previous situation wasn’t ideal; he lived outside and spent much of his time crated for his safety due to the risky environment with lots of critters to chase and nearby hunters. His previous family wanted better for him and reached out to SBR, and we’re so glad they did!

Now Rosco is will soon be ready to find a safe, loving home. Rosco is a friendly dog who gets along well with other dogs and kids. He weighs around 45 pounds and is very gentle and affectionate. Meet Copper, a 4-year-old, 50 pound male who was surrendered to SBR when his family moved from a house with a big backyard to an apartment. Unfortunately, Copper struggled to adjust to apartment life, becoming anxious and vocal with barking and whining. Despite this, he's a sweet and affectionate boy who gets along great with other dogs, cats, and children. Copper is curious, social, and loves being around people. He is also house trained.  He's still settling into his foster home and will be visiting the vet soon for a check-up. Copper is not yet neutered, and he’s not up to date on vaccines or heartworm prevention. He’s looking forward to finding his forever home where he can thrive and feel loved.

Meet Shelby. This 7-year-old sweetheart has been living her life outside, tied up with very little medical care. She was loaded with fleas and is adjusting to living inside. And, she is  adjusting to having someone care for her and make her feel safe and secure. Shelby’s  heading to the vet sooner than later as she has some hind end weakness and to ensure nothing else serious is going on with her. What a handsome 11-year-old boy Dooku is! He’s a recent arrival to Suncoast Basset Rescue. Dooku’s family had a couple of major life events and Dooku, unfortunately, received the short end of the stick. He will be getting his wellness exam soon. Meanwhile,  Dooku  is settling in and getting comfortable in his new foster home.

Meet Pumpkin. She is approximately 8 years old and weighs about 65 lbs. She was abandoned and some very kind neighbors took Pumpkin. She was not in the best of shape when they found her. Pumpkin’s nails were curled so much that they were growing into the pads of her feet, and she was skinny. In the time that they cared for her, they worked on getting her nails to a comfortable length and did a fantastic job putting weight on her…. maybe a little too much weight. She is currently on a bit of a weight loss program and likes to eat green beans. Pumpkin does have some fatty lipomas that are going to get looked at by the vet. She is super sweet, easy going and would love nothing more than to get love and attention all day long. 

Meet Roscoe, a lovable and laid-back 80-pound basset hound who’s looking for a fresh start. Roscoe's previous family had to make the difficult decision to surrender him after their move to a small trailer, where he was left outside and struggled to adjust to his new life. Despite his challenges, Roscoe remains a sweet, easygoing boy who craves the companionship of his humans. He’s still in need of a couple of vet visits for a general wellness exam, vaccinations, heartworm test, and neutering. Roscoe deserves a second chance at happiness and SBR is happy that we can be there to help him.
