Meet Grace, a 2-year-old, 50-pound girl who was surrendered to SBR due to anxiety that worsened after a new baby was added to her family. Grace is a sweet and loving girl with plenty of puppy energy to burn! She’ll need a home with a secure backyard where she can run and play to help manage her energy. Grace would thrive in a family that can offer consistency, basic obedience training, and plenty of attention to help her feel secure and confident.

She’s just arrived at her foster home, where she’s joined by three foster fur siblings who will help her adjust and start her journey toward a calmer, more relaxed life. Grace will soon be looking for ready a loving home where she can grow into the best dog she can be!

Meet Willard, a charming 3-year-old male with adorably long ears. Willard recently found himself in a bit of a pickle when he crossed paths with a feisty rooster. His curious nature must have gotten the best of him and the family that had him decided he was not a good fit for their home. He gets along well with other dogs, and it would be in Willard’s best interest to have another canine friend to play with, in addition a fenced in yard is a must for this energetic basset. Despite not getting along with roosters, he does like cats.  And he’s house-trained and a lovable 50lbs.  Fill out an application today!

Meet Copper, a 4-year-old, 50 pound male who was surrendered to SBR when his family moved from a house with a big backyard to an apartment. Unfortunately, Copper struggled to adjust to apartment life, becoming anxious and vocal with barking and whining. Despite this, he's a sweet and affectionate boy who gets along great with other dogs, cats, and children. Copper is curious, social, and loves being around people. He is also house trained.  He's still settling into his foster home and will be visiting the vet soon for a check-up. Copper is not yet neutered, and he’s not up to date on vaccines or heartworm prevention. He’s looking forward to finding his forever home where he can thrive and feel loved.

Meet Coco. He is the sweetest and bravest basset boy. Coco is only 4 years old and sometime last year both of his eyes were removed because of glaucoma. Now his family is moving to a place that does not allow dogs and they called on SBR to help Coco. Coco loves to sniff everywhere, and his sense of hearing is very keen. He is always listening to everything happening around him. He loves to explore and roll in the grass. He is gentle and loving too. He will be heading to the vet in the next couple of weeks for a wellness exam.

Meet Shelby. This 7-year-old sweetheart has been living her life outside, tied up with very little medical care. She was loaded with fleas and is adjusting to living inside. And, she is  adjusting to having someone care for her and make her feel safe and secure. Shelby’s  heading to the vet sooner than later as she has some hind end weakness and to ensure nothing else serious is going on with her. Meet Jasper.  He is only a year old and has been in at least 4 different homes! His last one was desperate to surrender him, after only a week. He was living in an apartment with 4 other dogs. His anxiety over being left alone was at a peak and he was afraid to do anything without a person in sight. When left alone he would bark, poop and pee. 

He just arrived in his foster home and is just settling in. He will be heading to the vet soon where he will need a full makeover. We have no medical records on him, and he is not altered. He is however, in good hands and we are hoping that with some consistency, attention, love and care that Jasper will be able to rebound from his past.

What a handsome 11-year-old boy Dooku is! He’s a recent arrival to Suncoast Basset Rescue. Dooku’s family had a couple of major life events and Dooku, unfortunately, received the short end of the stick. He will be getting his wellness exam soon. Meanwhile,  Dooku  is settling in and getting comfortable in his new foster home.

Meet Pumpkin. She is approximately 8 years old and weighs about 65 lbs. She was abandoned and some very kind neighbors took Pumpkin. She was not in the best of shape when they found her. Pumpkin’s nails were curled so much that they were growing into the pads of her feet, and she was skinny. In the time that they cared for her, they worked on getting her nails to a comfortable length and did a fantastic job putting weight on her…. maybe a little too much weight. She is currently on a bit of a weight loss program and likes to eat green beans. Pumpkin does have some fatty lipomas that are going to get looked at by the vet. She is super sweet, easy going and would love nothing more than to get love and attention all day long.
