Meet Brady, a handsome 9-year-old senior Basset Hound with a sweet personality and plenty of pep in his step. Despite facing some challenges in life, including the loss of his mom and his dad's recent tough circumstances, Brady remains a sweet and gentle soul. His dad felt it was in Brady's best interest to find him a new home where he can thrive, and that's where Suncoast Basset Rescue comes in.

We'll ensure that Brady receives the care he deserves, including the medical attention he's missed over the past few years. While he appears to be in overall good health, Brady will need some updates on his vaccinations, heartworm testing, and possibly a dental procedure, but we'll let him settle into his foster home first before we address those. Brady is ready to start a new chapter, and we’re here to help him do just that.

Meet Oscar! At just 20 months old, Oscar has already experienced more change than most pups do in a lifetime. He's been passed through at least six different homes/living situations, through no fault of his own, never given the chance to settle in, learn, or feel truly loved. But despite his rocky start, Oscar’s heart is still full of sweetness and joy. He is great around new people and has been around many other dogs, at dog parks and at doggie day care.

He does seem reserved at first when meeting new dogs but is then quick to jump in and join the play. This lovable boy is very playful and affectionate, plus he is a very good at taking naps. He’s especially enjoying the freedom of a fenced yard and the company of some young pup pals who are showing him how much fun being a dog can be.

Meet Petey! Petey is a sweet 2-year-old basset hound who was recently rescued from a hoarding situation and brought to the humane society. Shelter life was overwhelming for him—he was frightened and had very little experience with human socialization or being out and about in the world.

Thankfully, Petey is now settling into his foster home, where he has many basset buddies to help him feel at ease. He is already showing signs of comfort and trust, especially with Grandma, who quickly became his safe space. He is already proving that with love, patience, and the right company he is ready to blossom.

Meet Bobo, he’s a big, lovable basset boy! At just 1 year old and weighing in at 75 pounds, Bobo is a whole lot of hound and a whole lot of heart. He’s a sweet, goofy guy who adores people, gets along great with other dogs and even cats, and still has plenty of playful puppy energy.

Bobo was surrendered to SBR after overwhelming his previous household—clearly, they hadn’t experienced the full charm of being owned by a basset! I’m sure we can find a family that will appreciate his big personality and even bigger heart.

Meet Enzo! He is lovable 4-year-old red & white male basset hound that is probably about 50lbs or so. Enzo’s family made the tough decision to surrender him to SBR due to downsizing and feeling that they could no longer meet his needs. While Enzo gets along with other dogs, he certainly enjoys being the center of attention—he loves having all the toys to himself and prefers the spotlight from his people. He has never been around cats.

Enzo is an excellent walker and absolutely loves getting outside for strolls. He may come across as a little chatty or reactive to other dogs and people, but that’s just his basset personality shining through! His previous family described him as willful and resource-driven, but we think his behavior seems typical for the breed—he’s just a confident basset with a strong sense of personality. Enzo has been used to having someone around most of the time also. He’s not a fan of being left alone for long stretches.

Meet Lucy! This sweet, small red-and-white basset hound weighs just under 40 lbs and is a little over a year old. Full of puppy energy and spunk, she’s still learning the ropes and has a bit of that typical puppy attitude.

Lucy was surrendered to SBR after her family struggled with her playful jumping and nipping at ankles, compounded by a family member’s allergies. Despite her energetic nature, Lucy is ready for a fresh start with a patient and understanding home that can help her grow into the loving companion she’s meant to be.

Meet Murphy, a handsome 5-year-old (he will be 6 in August) tricolor Basset Hound. Sadly, Murphy's previous family faced financial challenges and couldn't provide the time and resources he needed. Now, he's looking for a fresh start!

Murphy is a friendly and easygoing guy who gets along well with other dogs—he’s lived happily with a Schnoodle brother and even enjoyed doggy daycare in the past. He’s also fine with cats and would be okay in a home with kids, though he’d likely do best in a household without toddlers. At about 60 lbs, Murphy could stand to shed a few pounds, but he's a big fan of walks (though he didn’t get as many in his previous home due to a busy schedule).

While he's still adjusting to his foster home, Murphy's goofy Basset personality is already shining through. He’s laid-back and seems to be the type of dog who just goes with the flow.

Meet Sluggo! This adorable 4-year-old, tricolor Basset Hound was surrendered to a shelter when his family faced the hardship of losing their home. Thankfully, another rescue stepped in and asked for our help to find him his forever family. With his charming looks and sweet nature, we know he'll find the perfect home in no time.

Sluggo is still adjusting after being bounced between two different rescues, and now settling into his new foster home, so he's a little shell-shocked at the moment. But with a little patience, we’re confident his true, lovable personality will soon shine through!

Meet Sultan, a charming and handsome young tricolor Basset Hound. Hard to believe this sweet boy was found as a stray, with no one coming forward to claim him. At just about a year old, Sultan is full of energy and curiosity, and like any young pup, he's still mastering potty training and has a love for chewing.

But don't let that fool you—he's incredibly smart and eager to learn. Sultan is playful, friendly, and great with both dogs and kids. We don’t know how he would be with cats. He absolutely adores his toys and is always up for a game.

Meet Napoleon! This charming 2.5-year-old blue tricolor Basset Hound is a new arrival to SBR. His family reached out to SBR for help in finding him a new place to call home, and we’re excited to help him on his journey. Napoleon is sweet, friendly, and eager to make new friends, though he’s not sure what to make of his foster family’s 3 bassets.

Update on Napoleon: He is up to date on all his vaccinations and has recently been neutered. He’s recovering well from his surgery and will soon be ready to find his forever family. Napoleon can be a bit shy and gets overwhelmed by more dominant dogs, so he would thrive in a home with a gentle dog or as the only dog. He’s looking for a calm, loving environment where he can enjoy lost sof attention and affection from his humans. If you’re looking for a loyal and sweet companion, Napoleon might be the perfect addition to your family!

Sadie and Marlee are a bonded pair of affectionate 5 year-old littermates. Sadie is a red and white basset, while Marlee is tricolor. These girls are very sweet and love attention from their humans. Sadly, due to severe allergies developed by two children in the home and an expanding household, their current owner, has made the difficult decision to surrender them to Suncoast Basset Rescue.

These girls are great with children, love to snuggle, and enjoy the comfort of a large, fenced yard where they chase squirrels and roam to their hearts' content. While they prefer not to walk on a leash, they are fine with it when necessary (e.g., vet visits). Occasionally, they might squabble, typically over treats, but they are getting better as they age. They are just getting settled in their foster home.

Suncoast Basset Rescue received a pleading email from a county shelter about a 12 year old bagel who was brought in as a stray. His stray hold was up, no one claimed him and he’s not in the best of shape, with a list of health issues, including being heartworm positive.

We knew he needed SBR’s help and we couldn’t let him stay any longer than necessary at the shelter. In honor of his arrival just after Valentine’s Day he has been named Eros. We are so happy to have this handsome senior boy in SBR’s care and we know he’s going to feel the love in his foster home.

Meet Pan, a charming, 1-year-old, 45-pound, male Basset Hound. Pan was surrendered by his previous family due to changes in their lifestyle and work commitments, as they felt it was unfair to him. He’s a loving and affectionate boy but can be a bit needy and anxious as he adjusts to his new surroundings. Pan is gradually settling into his foster home, taking everything one step at a time. He’s already had a wellness exam at the vet and is scheduled for neutering soon. Pan is looking for a patient and understanding family who can help him feel safe and loved.

Meet Otis, an 8-year-old senior basset that was surrendered to Suncoast Basset Rescue because his owners are dealing with an illness and are no longer home as much. They thought it was in Otis’s best interest to find a better situation for him. Otis is the perfect gentleman. He is good with other dogs and has a very sweet personality.

His foster dad, however, has found that Otis is capable of counter surfing and his longer legs make it a bit easier for him too. He is just settling in and we hope that Otis will find a forever home where he can get the love and attention he deserves.

Meet Hank, a handsome 7-year-old male Basset Hound with a big heart. Hank has had a bit of a rocky start, having lived in several homes over the years. After his previous owner passed away, he was taken in by family, but they’re now downsizing and can no longer keep him. That’s where SBR comes in!

Hank is friendly with both dogs and cats and enjoys going for walks. Though he might be a bit independent at first, once he settles in, he’s all about spending time with his humans, snuggling up, and enjoying some love. He’s going to be heading to the vet soon so that he can get updated on all his vaccines and get scheduled to be neutered.

Oliver is a 6 ½-year-old, tri-color, 65 lb. male basset hound looking for a new home due to his family’s changing circumstances. His current owner’s granddaughter has allergies and the decision was made to contact Suncoast Basset Rescue for help finding a new home for Oliver.

Oliver is a calm and easy-going dog, known for his gentle nature. While he does bark to alert his family to anything happening around his home, he is generally low-key and laid-back. He is not particularly social with other dogs and can be a bit aloof at the dog park, which may be due to his early separation from his mother at just six weeks of age.

Despite this, Oliver thrives in a peaceful environment and loves to lounge around the house. He enjoys short walks but is not high-energy. While he currently has a fenced yard, regular walks would be enough for him to enjoy the outdoors. Oliver has a large dog bed he loves for napping and sleeping through the night.

This handsome 4-year-old male is Milo. He weighs in at 55 lbs. and knows all the typical basset tricks, like flat basset, counter surfing and trash can magician. He’s a real love bug, very sweet and gets along with other dogs. He came to SBR because his family had some major life changes. They could no longer devote the time or energy to give Milo what he needs. He is settling into his new foster home.

Meet Lady, a gentle and timid soul who is just beginning to discover the joys of being a dog. As a former breeding female, Lady spent her life outdoors with little human interaction and never had the chance to experience the carefree life of a puppy.

Now, thanks to SBR, her life has taken a beautiful turn. Lady is slowly adjusting to life in a loving home, where she’s learning about soft beds, toys, affection, and the warmth of human companionship. While she’s still shy, she’s making progress every day and showing just how sweet and special she truly is. She has recently made a trip to the vet for her first wellness exam ever and is scheduled to be spayed. Lady hopefully will soon be ready for a future filled with love, patience and lots of positive attention.
