Meet Apollo! He came to the rescue with Daphne, an older female, that we think might be his mother. They were found abandoned on the side of the road. Apollo is heartworm positive and is being treated utilizing the slow kill method. Otherwise, he is very healthy.

We estimate that he is 2-to-3-years-old, is house trained and weighs 70 lbs. Apollo is very smart. His foster mom has taught him to sit and shake with both paws, and use the doggy door bell! He is excellent on a leash and is working on improving his manners with toys. He has a hilarious personality to match his gorgeous looks. While Apollo does well with other dogs, a home without cats or where cats have their own safe space may be a better fit for him. His foster mom has 3 indoor cats and 1 outdoor cat. He is doing very well with the indoor cats but is still curious about the outdoor cat. With time, we think he will do okay.

Because we don’t know his history, his foster mom has been scheduling “happy visits” for Apollo at a Fear-Free veterinary clinic to continue getting him comfortable meeting new people. Apollo will do best in a home with a forever family without children who is patient, understanding and willing to work to earn his trust.

Purty is a beautiful, 45 lb., bassador who spent her first nine years living as only dog with a yard to play in and her human mom to love. When her mom could no longer care for her, Purty’s peaceful life was upended. Fortunately, she landed on her feet and is thriving with her SBR foster family.

Purty is very smart and has adapted quickly to a completely different lifestyle by watching and learning. She’s housetrained and quite expressive with a cute grumble to ask to go out. She’s learning that grumbling is good, but barking just brings a fast end to fun activities! Purty loves to play ball, games with her toys, and is a quick study for basic instructions.

As the queen of her prior castle, Purty never had to learn the give and take of getting along with other dogs - or men, or kids. Interacting with her foster siblings is new and she’s still sorting it out. Her foster family is working to show her that men can be fun too!

Purty would probably do best as an only dog or with male dog siblings. Love and patience will go far in allowing this sweet girl’s personality to shine.
