Meet Roscoe, a 1-year-old Bassador (Basset Hound/Labrador mix) on the lookout for his forever home! Roscoe came to SBR after enduring tough living conditions and has quickly adapted to the indoor life with the help of his amazing foster dad and furry siblings. While he spent most of his life outside, he’s now mastered the doggie door and learned that the grass is the best place to do his business. Roscoe enjoys playing with his foster siblings, though he does have a tendency to chase cats outside. With a bit of training and patience, he’s sure to improve, especially since his siblings love to chase cats too!

Weighing in at about 45 pounds, Roscoe is a sweet and affectionate guy. He loves to snuggle up on the bed with his humans or furry friends but is just as content resting on the floor next to his foster dad at bedtime. As a young dog, Roscoe has a bit of a chewing habit, so be sure to keep some chew toys around to keep him busy! While he's not food-aggressive, he can get a little anxious around mealtime. He’s polite about letting others eat but thinks it’s fair game if they walk away.

Meet Lady, a sweet and loving 1-year-old basset hound who is now in the care of SBR. Lady was originally adopted as a puppy from a shelter, but unfortunately, she spent much of her early life in a crate due to her previous family's disagreements about having a dog. Despite the challenges she faced, Lady has remained a friendly and affectionate girl. Thankfully, she was rehomed to a friend who reached out to SBR for help.

Lady is now thriving in her foster home, where she enjoys playing with her basset hound brothers and getting all the love and attention she deserves. She is wonderful with other dogs and people, and her sweet nature shines through in everything she does. Lady does need to gain a few pounds and will soon be getting a wellness exam, as well as being spayed. Once medically cleared, she will be ready to find her forever family.

Meet Jessie! This sweet, 4.5-month-old black and white Basset Hound was surrendered by her family due to the challenges of managing a puppy alongside two small children. Despite her young age, Jessie is already proving to be a friendly and loving companion. She gets along well with other dogs and is working hard on her house training. She will soon be visiting the vet for a wellness exam and to schedule her spay procedure. 

Meet Hank, a handsome 7-year-old male Basset Hound with a big heart. Hank has had a bit of a rocky start, having lived in several homes over the years. After his previous owner passed away, he was taken in by family, but they’re now downsizing and can no longer keep him. That’s where SBR comes in!

Hank is friendly with both dogs and cats and enjoys going for walks. Though he might be a bit independent at first, once he settles in, he’s all about spending time with his humans, snuggling up, and enjoying some love. He’s going to be heading to the vet soon so that he can get updated on all his vaccines and get scheduled to be neutered.

Meet Dolly, a lovable 6-year-old basset hound in need of a new chapter. Dolly’s mom recently passed away and entrusted Suncoast Basset Rescue to find her a new home. She’s currently settling into her foster home, where she’ll soon be getting a wellness checkup at the vet. Dolly is a social girl who enjoys the company of other dogs, though she’s still getting used to cats.

Her favorite activity is lounging on the sofa, and she has a big love for snacks—her foster mom says she could stand to shed a few pounds. Dolly will soon be ready for her forever family and all the love they can give! 

This handsome 4-year-old male is Milo. He weighs in at 55 lbs. and knows all the typical basset tricks, like flat basset, counter surfing and trash can magician. He’s a real love bug, very sweet and gets along with other dogs. He came to SBR because his family had some major life changes. They could no longer devote the time or energy to give Milo what he needs. He is settling into his new foster home.

 Meet Holly, a sweet 10-year-old senior Basset Hound who is finally getting the care and love she deserves. Holly was found wandering the streets and brought to the ER by a kind Good Samaritan. Sadly, when the vet reached out to the number on her microchip, the person hung up. It’s clear Holly has endured a lot of neglect for quite some time. She has at least one large, ulcerated mammary mass the size of a softball, along with severe skin issues, hives, and an infected hot spot on her hind end. Her ears are also infected, and her condition is heartbreaking.

Despite all her struggles, Holly remains incredibly gentle and loving, with her tail wagging constantly. During her first few days in care, she slept a lot, but after receiving medical attention—blood work, radiographs, and medications to help with her intense itching—she's starting to show more energy and a little bounce in her step. Holly is scheduled for surgery to remove the masses, and we are hopeful that the pathology results will bring good news. She’s a true survivor, and with the right care, we know that she will have many more years to spend getting pampered and loved the way she deserves.

Meet Bo, a handsome 2-year-old Basset Hound who was recently surrendered to SBR from a breeder. Bo is still adjusting to his new surroundings and can be a bit shy and overwhelmed, but he's making progress every day. He's already mastered using the doggie door, which is a great sign that he's starting to feel more comfortable. Bo will need some time, patience, and consistency to build his confidence and learn to trust people, but his loving nature shines through.

He's good with other dogs and eager for companionship. Bo will be visiting the vet soon for a wellness check, vaccinations, and to be scheduled for neutering. With the right care and attention, Bo will blossom into an amazing companion.

Meet Molly, a sweet 3 1/2-year-old Basset Hound who’s ready to start a new chapter of her life. After spending most of her years raising puppies, she’s finally going to have the chance to enjoy being a puppy herself. Molly is gentle and loving but can be a bit shy and timid, especially around new people, unfamiliar environments, and noises. She will need a patient and understanding family who can help her build confidence through positive reinforcement.

Although she’s only been in her foster home for a short time, she’s already making progress. Molly just had her first vet visit and is getting ready to be spayed soon. Stay tuned for more updates on her journey!

Meet Lady, a gentle and timid soul who is just beginning to discover the joys of being a dog. As a former breeding female, Lady spent her life outdoors with little human interaction and never had the chance to experience the carefree life of a puppy.

Now, thanks to SBR, her life has taken a beautiful turn. Lady is slowly adjusting to life in a loving home, where she’s learning about soft beds, toys, affection, and the warmth of human companionship. While she’s still shy, she’s making progress every day and showing just how sweet and special she truly is. She has recently made a trip to the vet for her first wellness exam ever and is scheduled to be spayed. Lady hopefully will soon be ready for a future filled with love, patience and lots of positive attention.

Meet Lilly! This sweet 6.5-year-old Basset Hound has spent most of her life living outside as a breeding dog, but her puppy-raising days are now behind her. Lilly is just beginning to learn what it means to be part of a loving home. While she’s still adjusting to indoor living and getting used to people, she’s discovering the joys of cozy dog beds and the comfort of being cared for.

Lilly is a bit shy around loud noises and quick movements, but with patience and kindness, she’s slowly coming out of her shell. She’s scheduled for her first-ever wellness exam at the vet and will soon be spayed. We’re hopeful for good news as Lilly embarks on this new chapter of her life filled with love and care.

Meet Harley and Hobie, an incredibly handsome bonded pair of 3-year-old Basset brothers! These littermates are inseparable, with Harley sporting a stunning lemon coat and Hobie rocking classic red and white. Each weighs nearly 80 pounds—double the charm!

Harley and Hobie were surrendered by an elderly owner who could no longer care for them, but their playful, sweet, and mischievous personalities are shining through in their foster home. Hobie is especially attached to Harley and can’t stand being apart from his brother for even a moment. Both house-trained boys are settling in nicely with their foster dad and are ready to bring double the love and laughter to their forever home!

Meet Shelby. This 7-year-old sweetheart has been living her life outside, tied up with very little medical care. She was loaded with fleas and is adjusting to living inside. And, she is  adjusting to having someone care for her and make her feel safe and secure. Shelby’s  heading to the vet sooner than later as she has some hind end weakness and to ensure nothing else serious is going on with her. What a handsome 11-year-old boy Dooku is! He’s a recent arrival to Suncoast Basset Rescue. Dooku’s family had a couple of major life events and Dooku, unfortunately, received the short end of the stick. He will be getting his wellness exam soon. Meanwhile,  Dooku  is settling in and getting comfortable in his new foster home.
