Owner Surrender

CONTACT A RESCUE FIRST!

Approximately 8-12 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide every year of which 5-9 million are euthanized.  Shelter intakes are divided evenly between those relinquished by owners and those picked up by animal control.

Having problems with your pet and want to surrender it?  Giving up a companion animal is not a decision to be taken lightly.  Have you really researched training, veterinary help or other alternatives to help with your dog related problems?  Oftentimes, people just find it easier to just get rid of the dog, and then find they have the same problems with their next pet.  CONTACT US to find information on trainers, behaviorists, and problems with dogs ranging from allergies to housebreaking.

Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc. Will Take In An Owned Relinquish Dog

Every year, 3.3 million dogs enter shelters and 670,000 are euthanized because shelters are too full. Therefore, bassets already in shelters are a priority for SBR, and we are not always able to get all of them out in time.  We work hard to save as many dog lives as we can.

If we have the space and resources available to accept your dog and, if the surrendered dog meets our requirements, we can place the basset in a new home.

Suncoast cannot accept a dog with a history of biting for placement through our rescue programs. We will take some basset mixes if they look more like a basset.  If you have questions regarding these issues or have extenuating circumstances, please contact SBR directly to explain and discuss the problem.

To continue, please complete and submit the Surrender Form with a recent picture of your basset sent at the same time.  We will review the form and pictures and a determination will be made as to whether we can accept your dog.
